The use of an SAP Application Programming Interface (API) opens up many possibilities for developers to design automation processes more effectively.
In contrast to SAP GUI, the SAP APIs interfaces have predefined technical documentation, change guidelines and a versioning. In comparison to SAP UI automation, executing via API automation is much faster, resulting in optimization of long-running processes and maintaining stability across releases.
Various technical options for using APIs of SAP will be presented.
• The Remote Function Call (RFC) as the base concept.
• The Business Application Programming Interface (BAPI) as a formal variant
• The Advanced Business Application Programming (ABAP) language is the SAP programming language.
Each of these options grants a developer more access to the possibilities that an SAP system offers. This presentation is intended to give an impression of how technical connections via SAP API between SAP systems and UiPath can be realized and what automation possibilities arise from this connection.
The target audience of this event are RPA Developers and Citizen Developers who need to connect to the SAP backend via RFC and all who are interested in the topic of SAP API Automation.
